"Being touched and caressed,
is food for the infant.
Food as necessary
as minerals, vitamins, and proteins..."
From Dr. Frederick Leboyer,
Loving hands: the traditional art of baby massage.
attentive - loving - mindful
It is a joy for me to teach Shantala baby massage to parents, grandparents and caregivers. I have experienced the benefits of Shantala massage with my own school-aged children. Our massage moments remain a special moment for us to be together and connect.
Before setting up Nurturing Touch, I worked as a physical therapist, a researcher and a "Mom-in-Chief". I am a yoga enthusiast and I am fascinated by how the mind and body are interconnected. I am also keenly interested in how loving touch positively affects the physical, cognitive and emotional development of children.
I completed my Shantala baby massage teacher training at the Holos Academie in Utrecht and I am a member of the Dutch Shantala Teachers Assocation (Vakgroep Shantala Docenten). I have also taken courses on Rebalancing and body-oriented therapy for children.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and my ancestors come from Japan. In the 1990's, I lived in the United States. The Netherlands has been my home since 2000. Currently, I live Zoeterwoude with my husband, 2 school-aged children and pet guinea pig.
People who know me describe me as professional, open, enthusiastic, empathetic, caring and friendly. I look forward to meeting you.
